Managing COVID-19

We are delighted to welcome you back to Swan at the Globe to enjoy great food, drink and service. We have undertaken a risk assessment, and our practices have been fully audited and approved by Food Alert. We are keeping an eye on all government guidelines and changing regulations and the following are our measures to ensure both your safety and the welfare of our team.

Swan at Shakespeare's Globe team

NHS test and trace

You will be required to share your contact details at booking or on arrival (we welcome walk ups), which we will keep on file for up to 21 days. This is to help the government be able to trace all diners who may have been present during a suspected outbreak.

Hand sanitiser stations and enhanced cleaning

When entering and leaving, you will find hand sanitiser stations and be encouraged to use them, in order to help limit the spread of germs. Enhanced cleaning and disinfection is carried out several times per day using chemicals that are appropriate for Covid-19. All staff wash their hands regularly for 20 seconds with hot water and soap, with the addition of hand sanitiser afterwards.

Apps and one use only printed menus

Our menus can all be downloaded with a QR code. For those that do not want to use the app, we will print paper menus and dispose of them safely once you have handled them. Contactless payment is encouraged. All employees must complete a health screening questionnaire and confirm they are in good health prior to starting work, and as per government regulations a COVID-19 risk assessment has been shared with the workforce. No employees will work if they or anyone in their household is unwell following Public Health England Self Isolation Guidance. Our employees follow safe Covid-19 working procedures.

Social Distancing

The layout of our premises has been adjusted to allow adequate physical distancing in both back and front of house. Contactless pick up and deliveries are in place which follow social distancing guidelines. We are working with suppliers with SALSA (Safe and Local Supplier Approval) certificates and COVID-19 operation policies implemented and shared with us. We are offering table service only with a maximum of 6 guests per table. We wear face coverings and ask that customers do when entering and moving about the building, and only removing them when seated. We are limiting the number of people who can come into the Swan and have adjusted our opening hours to reflect the 10pm curfew.
